Conservation of Forests in Nagano Prefecture
On November 14, 2015, 44 volunteers from GLORY group companies and business partners participated in the forest conservation activities sponsored by an NPO "Laboratory of Earth Conscious Life".
There is an ongoing project to make a new forest called "Firewood Forest" in Osawa ward, Saku City in Nagano prefecture. This project is being promoted by the NPO to make a forest for producing firewoods and charcoals.
We planted the Konara Mountain Maples last year. This year, however, we cultivated the soil in preparation for planting next spring. We also piled up stems, branches, small trees and plants after cutting and thinning all of these, and arranged and deployed them in a good order for securing the space for the next planting. Despite the rainy and cold weather, a number of participants commented that they would like to participate again in the planting next spring.
