The 5th Biodiversity Conservation Program in GLORY Yumesaki Forest
GLORY LTD, together with the GLORY Worker's Union, implemented the 5th Biodiversity Conservation at the GLORY Yumesaki Forest located in Himeji, Hyogo on April 4, 2015, with GLORY Group employees participating in the program as volunteers.
Since 2011, at GLORY Yumesaki Forest, we have been planting and thinning trees to preserve the biodiversity of the area surrounding our business premises. We have also been implementing various activities for the next generation children to give them the opportunity to learn the importance of nature.
During the program, the participants thinned trees and planted broadleaf saplings of the Quercus serrata and mountain maple, anticipating that the Hinoki cypress trees will grow with reasonable density to make a sound forest. They also experienced the inoculation of Shiitake mushrooms as another way of enjoying the forest, and gave comments such as "I am looking forward to cropping", "I can't wait for the cropping".
Also as a course of making use of woods thinned in 2014, the participants made two sets of benches for donation to a local elementary school.
