Participating in the "Coastal Forest" revitalization activity due to the earthquake in Miyagi Prefecture

The "Coastal Forest Regeneration Project" is being promoted by Miyagi Prefecture to reproduce the disaster-prevention forest which was critically destroyed by the Tsunami (seismic surges) caused by the Great East Japan Earthquake.

A total of 22 people including our employees and their families from the Tohoku Regional Office and customers from local financial institutions jointly participated in this activity together with the NPO Corporation (consisting of the Forest Instructor Academy and Forest Research Institute of Miyagi Prefecture) on April 15, 2017. The members started their day by cultivating the mound for plantation. Some tasks were difficult, but by working together they were able to plant 100 Japanese Black Pines in just two hours. Comments about the activity from the participants included "We were very grateful to know that our small effort has been helpful for disaster prevention."
